Membership is free and obtainable upon application. If you would like to join the Virtual Mesoamerican Archive (VMA), whether as an institution or as an individual, please contact Stephanie Wood (swood@uoregon.edu). Membership offers the benefit of full access to all the materials harvested by the VMA, as long as this access is only intended to advance research and teaching and as long as all rights are recognized and observed (see our Rights Policy). Some of our collaborating partners have asked that we add a layer of password protection to their materials, and members will be given the necessary password. The remainder of our content will be accessible password-free to the general public.

We would welcome institutions that are not yet represented, whether museums, libraries, or archives. The more repositories we can represent, the more comprehensive this portal will be and the more useful to serious students of Mesoamerica. If you have not yet digitized any of your Mesoamerican materials, we can at the very least help users obtain a glimpse of your collection(s) and get your contact information so that they might visit your repository in person. We would do this by entering your data into our online searchable Repository database. If you would like help digitizing your collection, we would be delighted to discuss the possibility of collaborating with you, seeking funds jointly to help underwrite photography/scanning and website construction.

If you are an academic with quality photographs from your field work, we might be able to seek funding together to help you build a website with your images, and then make them available through the VMA search engines. If you already have a website that you would like to have included in the Digitized Materials search engine, please bring it to our attention.
